Glass Shop

Our hot glass shop is up and running!  Many thanks to the MRS Foundation, the Ceramics and Glass Industry Foundation, and the Colorado School of Mines for their generous funding, and to Mary Reitmeyer and the Missouri S&T glass shop for their assistance!  We’ll add and update pictures as we go.  The shop is managed by the Colorado chapter of Keramos; contact Sarah Harling, Hot Shop Manager for more information and/or if you’re interested in a tour, lessons, or anything else. We are also offering a 2 credit hour course each semester on the Art and Science of Glassblowing.

Jake Ivy was recently featured on Denver’s channel 9 news for his work in the glass shop! Check out the segment here. The shop was also featured in a recent Mines Magazine, click here to read story.

Ed Schmid, author of Advanced Glassworking Techniques, stopped by the glass lab for a demo while he was in town. Gaffers were able to ask questions and learn exciting new techniques from him!
